News to me

You’ll never guess which sports franchise makes the most money!!

What!?!? Imagine if they actually won any games.

Joe Girardi…the Yankees mis-manager.

I amplify’d this from an article that all frustrated Yankee fans should read - on just how absurd Girardi’s management approach is.  I contend that he is so narcissistic that he doesn’t just want to win, he wants to win because of him.

Girardi seemed manic in the way he ran that game, not just in his quizzical pitching changes, but in his many sprints to the mound to confer with his pitchers.

Girardi replaced a left-hander with a left-hander to face a left-hander, and replaced a right-hander with a right-hander to face a right-hander. He has made 14 pitching changes in the past 18 innings. It’s like watching Carrot Top playing speed chess after downing a case of Red Bull.

Kids who can’t survive sunshine play ball with NY Yankees

What a beautiful thing the Yankees did for these kids.   I got goose bumps reading the article.

If kids with XP catch the slightest UV ray, they can and do develop cancerous tumors. Even fluorescent lights fry their skin like boiling oil.

So how could they take the field at Yankee Stadium? Because this was 3 a.m. Superstar right-handers should be tucked into bed by then, yet there was Burnett, throwing Wiffle-ball splitters and chasing down line drives.

They high-fived Derek Jeter, ran madly around the bases and wallowed in the instant carnival the Yankees had set upRead more at sports.espn.go.com

Any Yankee fans disagree with this? via @stephencrose

Should have been this way from day 1 but for some reason the Yankees got it backwards.

I don’t know how easy it would be to pull off at this point, but there is little doubt the Yankees’ best staff would feature Phil Hughes in the rotation and Joba Chamberlain in a setup role.Read more at blogs.mycentraljersey.com

The most impressive thing about Derek Jeter

I’m a big Yankees fan and, of course, that makes me a Derek Jeter fan.  But more important to me than his achievements on the field is the fact that in 13 seasons he has never (literally, never) acted in a way that was less than classy and worthy of being a role model for children.  Considering the state of sports today and the way many athletes behave, i think he deserves enormous credit for his consistency as a human being.  The quote below is from a veteran MLB umpire today…

“Yes, in my 27 years in the big leagues, he is probably the classiest person I’ve been around,” the crew chief said.

Something I’d think all Yankee fans would agree with…

Amplifyd from mvn.com
I think it’s time to start Brett Gardner in center and Melky Cabrera in right and just use Swisher as a pinch hitter.Read more at mvn.com

I love this kid Gardner.  He plays the game with the kind of spirit that all winning teams need.  And he’s got unbelievable speed that gives the Yankees a weapon they otherwise lack.  it’s time to pencil him in as the CF for the rest of the season.

Age catching up with the Yankees!?

When you fill a roster with key players all in their mid-30s, what do you expect?  The Yankees DL has been a revolving door so far this season.  And with this roster, i don’t know that you can expect it to stop.

NEW YORK — Yankees catcher Jorge Posada has gone on the disabled list with a hamstring injury.

The All-Star was injured while sliding during Monday night’s 6-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox. He had injured the same right hamstring earlier in the season but avoided the DL.
